About the Book Design

This project presents a mock layout for an artist’s book showcasing work from an exhibition in Downtown Toronto. The design emphasizes the artwork itself, allowing the images to take center stage through thoughtful composition. The mockup demonstrates a range of layouts that would appear in the final publication, including a mix of full-bleed and bordered images and full-spread visuals. I used a grid system to ensure unity across the spreads. Placeholder lorem ipsum text is also used throughout the mockup to represent future body copy, with a serif typeface for the headings to add structure and elegance, and a sans serif body font to ensure clean, readable text throughout.

Artist Exhibition

All the artwork for this artist book mockup was sourced from a multimedia exhibition in Toronto called ReconciliACTION by Indigenous artists Nyle Miigizi Johnston and W' dae b' wae. The exhibition showcased Anishinaabae stories and teachings through paintings, music, and animations; connecting past with present and offering a vision for the future. I attended the exhibition myself and, with permission, took photos of the pieces to display in the mockup. Credits are rightfully given for each artwork shown in the book.
